Good morning 6A!
Let’s talk about cells…
Cells are the smallest parts of living things, like the Lego bricks we use to construct life.
Did you know each cell has a tiny system of organs inside of it called organelles? Today, we will learn about some of these…

To make this a little more interesting I made you a flipbook.
Each of you has a copy of the flipbook for your notebook. If you’re at home today, here is a link so you can see, too:

There are some questions to answer in your notebook:

Here are the answers we made together in the class. Please, make sure you have them in your notebook because you can use them to study!

We also made these notes to help us remember vocabulary and information we have studied before:

There are 2 types of cells for living things: PROKARYOTIC and EUKARYOTIC.

These words sound really difficult, but I promise they’re not…

A EUKARYOTIC cell contains a nucleus with DNA (ADN) inside of it.
Plants and animals are made up of Eukaryotic cells with a nucleus and little organelles inside.
Monera kingdom organisms like bacteria are Prokaryotic because their DNA (ADN) is all mixed up inside each cell. This makes cellular division- breaking a cell in half for reproduction- easier.

We need to collect together a little information about some of the organelles…
These 2 cell worksheets will be for your homework. They are to keep in your notebook so you can use them to study.

At the end of class, we will see if anyone has any materials or more ideas for our Bug Hotel…
